You might also try gentle stretching, or an over-the-counter pain reliever like ibuprofen, naproxen sodium, or acetaminophen. If none of these home remedies work, your doctor can help. Traditional treatment for back pain uses muscle relaxants and pain medication, and treatments like traction. In severe cases, doctors sometimes recommend extreme measures like epidural injections or even surgery. However, many patients find relief from holistic treatments, including:

I would have never thought that sleeping position could be causing lower back pain. It makes sense because even sleeping on a different bed could be uncomfortable. It may be a good idea to try sleeping in a different location or side of the bed.

I liked that you had mentioned that if you have lower back pain that it can important to rest your back with an ice pack for 20 minutes at first and then switching to heat. My wife has been experiencing back pain for longer than we have been married and I’ve been worried that it’s only getting worse. I’ll have to try having her rest her back, but I might have to look into a professional to help with the pain.
